Zelensky sharply reacted to Trump’s verbal insult: “We are not children in a park with Putin – he is a murderer, not some toy characters
" Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky clearly and unanimously expressed his stance regarding the words of former U.S. President Donald Trump, who in his statements described Russia and Ukraine as "children fighting in a park." This caused outrage among the Ukrainian leader, as his remarks became a clear condemnation of such a comparative analogy that devalues both the scale of Ukrainian suffering and the seriousness of the threat hanging over our state. Zelensky emphasized that comparing a real war, in which civilians, especially children, are dying, to a conflict between two grown-up people in a child's game is irresponsible and wrong. "We are not children in a park with Putin; he is a killer who came into this park with one goal – to destroy and kill Ukrainian children," stated the president, stressing that in reality, the situation is much more serious and cannot be compared to a child's game. Additionally, Zelensky highlighted that Trump could not fully perceive or understand the scale of Ukrainian pain, as he is not in Ukraine, does not experience it daily, and has not personally witnessed the tragedies that have occurred. "This is not only about Trump – it applies to anyone who is far from Ukraine and cannot even imagine what it means to lose a child or be under constant threat of shelling and destruction. They cannot fully grasp this pain, so it is important to speak about the true scale," the head of state underscored. Official data shows that since the start of the war that Russia initiated against our country, over 631 children have died. These tragedies still remain unrecognized globally, but for Ukrainians, it is an unspeakable pain that echoes daily in the hearts of every family. In response to Trump’s statements and his concept of giving a "mediation" time for fighting, the president added that his words have a deeper meaning: “We must be mature and responsible in assessing the situation seriously. The fact that Russia is conducting massive shelling and destroying Ukrainian cities – this is not toys or a conflict between two small children. It is aggression aimed at the complete destruction of Ukrainian citizens and sovereignty.” Earlier, on June 6, U.S. President Donald Trump shared his own view on the situation in Ukraine, particularly discussing negotiations with Vladimir Putin. In his statement, he said that Ukraine and Russia should be allowed "to fight a little longer," because then the process of ending the war would become easier. Trump compared the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to two little kids fighting on a playground: "They hate each other and are fighting in the park, and you try to separate them. But they don’t want to be separated – sometimes it’s better to let them fight a bit, and then break it up to prevent greater bloodshed." Moreover, on June 6, the American president made another sensational comment, stating that strikes by Ukrainian drones on Russian military targets and facilities have caused a new wave of mass Russian attacks, indicating how complex and fierce the situation at the front remains. Trump emphasized that these actions by Ukrainian forces were the pretext for Moscow’s further escalation and massive destruction. Overall, according to the Ukrainian leader, these traces of deliberate Russian aggression daily leave their impact on the lives of Ukrainians, and calls for "tomorrow" or “time for fighting” cannot justify the suffering our country endures. Ukraine continues to fight, demonstrating an unwavering will for independence and peace, despite all attempts by Russia to erase it from the world map and break the spirit of the Ukrainian people.
