President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his recent address, reported a significant success of Ukrainian defenders in the fight against Russian aggression
According to him, in recent days, Ukrainian forces have destroyed at least three Iskander missile systems, which is a substantial blow to Russia’s ability to carry out hostilities on Ukrainian territory. Additionally, Ukrainian soldiers damaged several Russian military helicopters and inflicted new damage on Russian military logistics and airfields, significantly complicating the occupiers’ operations. Zelenskyy emphasized that these successes are not just isolated incidents but an important step in containing Russian aggression. He stated that every enemy target hit matters and makes Russian military actions more difficult, creating additional challenges for the Russian military machine. According to him, this gives our military greater room for maneuver and helps in defending Ukrainian lands and populations. The head of state highlighted the importance of international pressure on Russia, particularly through sanctions. He said that this pressure is prompting the Kremlin to seek ways out of the crisis through negotiations. Zelenskyy noted that such pressure is a key factor because, in his words, sanctions on Russian oil and restrictions on those still supporting trade with Moscow can push the Russian leadership towards ending the war. “Russia must end this war that it started. We need to push them to do so,” he underscored. In his statement, the president also provided a background on successful Ukrainian strikes, notably referencing a missile attack on a Russian missile troop concentration near the city of Klintsy in the Bryansk region, recorded on June 5. Ukrainian forces targeted a missile division storage site with a missile strike, resulting in one launcher detonating and two suffering serious damage. During this period, other Russian military targets were also hit: on June 6, the Ukrainian aviation forces attacked two Russian airfields in the Saratov and Ryazan regions, causing serious damage to the Russian air forces based there. It was also reported that on the night of June 6, Ukrainian drones attacked an airfield in Bryansk, destroying a Russian Mi-8 combat helicopter and damaging another helicopter, the Mi-35. However, there is currently no official confirmation of this information. At the same time, Ukrainian forces confirmed the downing of a Russian Su-35 fighter jet in the Kursk region, which provided further evidence of Ukrainian defenders' successes against Russian aviation. Thus, according to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian defense forces are not only responding to Russian aggression but also inflicting significant losses on the enemy, affecting the course of the war and the internal situation in Russia. This gives reason to hope that, in the near future, the situation at the front will remain under Ukraine’s control and reduce the capabilities of the occupiers to conduct military operations from various directions. At the same time, the country’s leadership calls on the world to continue applying pressure and strengthening sanctions to force Russia to stop the war and return to the negotiating table.
