5 million USD. This decision was announced by Canadian Defence Minister David J. McGuinty during the 28th meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the "Rammstein" format, held at NATO headquarters. According to an official statement from the Canadian Ministry of Defence, the new financial contribution involves providing the Ukrainian side with approximately 35 million CAD (about 25.5 million USD). The majority of these funds—30 million CAD—will be allocated for the supply of modern Coyote and Bison armored vehicles, as well as for the procurement of new equipment and ammunition from Canadian defense manufacturers. This will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s defenses and enhance the ability of Ukrainian troops to operate in challenging combat conditions. The first step in this direction was already taken at the end of last year, when 64 Coyote armored vehicles were delivered to Ukraine as part of previous aid. Now, these efforts are being supplemented, and the funding will be used for the purchase of state-of-the-art vehicles and the necessary equipment for their maintenance and modernization. An additional 5 million CAD is planned to be spent on the procurement of electronic warfare kits from the Canadian defense industry. Such equipment is vital for countering modern reconnaissance and electronic attack systems, which is particularly relevant in the context of the contemporary war. McGuinty’s statement was made amid ongoing active international support for Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. During the "Rammstein" meeting, Ukraine and its allies discussed further steps and mechanisms to strengthen Ukrainian defense. A new mechanism was also agreed upon to support Ukraine’s defense industrial complex, aimed at promoting local production and ensuring a stable supply of necessary weapons and equipment in the future. Participants confirmed their firm support for Ukraine and its defense capabilities. At the same time, it was notably surprising that the U.S. Secretary of Defense was absent from this "Rammstein" session for the first time, which sparked discussion and some debate among experts regarding the level of involvement and strategic priorities in the country’s cooperation. Overall, Canada's contribution to supporting Ukraine is another important step in the multifaceted international effort to strengthen Ukrainian defense capabilities in the fight against aggression, bringing closer the victory and the restoration of peace in the region.
