Russian forces have once again attacked the center of Kherson, focusing on infrastructure objects and residential buildings

On June 5, Russian aviation forces dropped four guided air bombs on the city, causing extensive destruction and human injuries. This attack was one of numerous attempts to destabilize the situation in the region, which has long been at the center of hostilities and is one of the key fronts in the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to official information obtained from the scene and comments from regional authorities, a number of residential and administrative facilities were damaged. Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, reported that the Russian Federation is deliberately targeting important administrative buildings, including the Kherson Regional Military Administration (RMA), which has already been repeatedly shelled. "These hits caused even greater destruction to this facility, and also destroyed the entrance to a multi-storey residential complex. Around it, facades were damaged, and windows were shattered in neighboring buildings," he added. Initial data indicate that at least two people were injured in the attack—a 74-year-old man and a 68-year-old man. Both are currently under round-the-clock medical supervision and are receiving necessary assistance. Additionally, rescuers who arrived at the scene managed to free four residents from a blocked basement of a multi-storey building, and they were evacuated from the dangerous zone. Fortunately, medical personnel found no serious complications or injuries among the rescued. It is reported that the missiles hit at least five multi-apartment residential buildings, as well as administrative and educational institutions located near the city’s central objects. This is yet another demonstration of the ongoing targeted shelling of civilian infrastructure by Russian forces, aiming to sow fear and create division among local residents. Representatives of local authorities and law enforcement highlight that the situation remains tense, and all efforts are focused on minimizing the consequences of the attack and quickly restoring the damaged facilities. Local rescuers and medical personnel are working intensively to provide assistance to the affected and to eliminate the aftermath of the destructions. Overall, the events of June 5 once again remind us of the scale and brutality of Russian attacks, and residents of the region remain under constant threat. Despite these difficulties, Ukrainian authorities reaffirm their resolute determination to resist and continue defending the country’s independence and territorial integrity under challenging and dangerous wartime conditions.
