At the Ukrainian-Polish border, at the “Shehyni” checkpoint, a temporary disruption in vehicle traffic is currently observed

This information was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS), and confirmed by journalists from "European Pravda." The situation is associated with ongoing large-scale repair and modernization works at this important border crossing. According to the SBGS, in the late evening of June 5, there was a significant worsening of traffic conditions for both passenger and freight vehicles at the "Shehyni" border crossing. It is stated that this situation is caused by engineering works, including the laying of new utilities and the dismantling of old road surfaces, which are being carried out in the direction of exit from Ukraine. In connection with this, border officials advise travelers to consider possible delays and, if possible, plan their trips along alternative routes to avoid discomfort and additional wait times. The border service noted that the highest traffic volume is currently observed at the "Krakivets" and "Shehyni" crossings, which are among the busiest checkpoints. Meanwhile, traffic at other control points is somewhat calmer, particularly at "Rava-Ruska," "Hrushev," and "Uhrainiv." The smallest number of vehicles is currently recorded at the "Nizhankovychi" and "Smilnytsia" crossings. This indicates that traffic conditions may be more or less complicated depending on the specific border crossing. It should be noted that information about temporary movement restrictions due to repair work is not new to border officials. As early as April this year, traffic through the "Shehyni" checkpoint was also partially restricted because of infrastructure repairs and upgrades. Additionally, it is worth recalling that in May, Polish carriers organized more than a day of blocking freight vehicle movement through the "Yagodyn-Dorohusk" border crossing. This led to significant queues and delays for transport heading from Poland to Ukraine and vice versa. Overall, the situation at the Ukrainian-Polish border remains tense, especially considering the extensive repair and modernization works ongoing at popular checkpoints. Travelers, drivers, and freight carriers should take these circumstances into account and plan their routes with extra time to avoid unnecessary delays and unforeseen situations during border crossing. However, experts emphasize that such temporary measures are necessary for enhancing safety and improving infrastructure quality in the long term.
