During the night of June 4th, a series of powerful explosions rang out in Odessa, causing alarm and panic among the city’s residents
According to reports from local and Ukrainian media, amid the growing threat of Russian drones, air defense forces operated almost continuously, attempting to intercept and neutralize the enemy targets. At the same time, the Ukrainian Air Command Center reported that at 00:46 AM, movements of high-precision unmanned aerial vehicles, likely Russian attack drones, were detected heading toward Odessa. Less than three minutes later, at 00:58, city sources confirmed that explosions were observed in the city. Despite efforts to react quickly, it appears that some drones managed to reach their targets within a few minutes. According to information from several official sources, including the "Dumskaya" publication and the public broadcaster "Suspilne," the situation was under control of the air defense. However, despite the operating defense systems, several explosions still occurred, damaging infrastructure and prompting residents to seek shelter. Odesa Regional Governor Oleg Kiper, in an early morning address, urged residents to stay in shelters and avoid going outside unless necessary, warning of an active enemy attack by strike drones. "Odessa and the surrounding areas, please remain in shelters! Enemy attack drones are targeting our positions, and we are doing everything possible to resist these nighttime assaults," Kiper emphasized. Following coordinated actions by Ukrainian forces during the night, specialists confirmed the downing of several enemy targets in the air, which reduced potential destruction. Nevertheless, the explosions in the city left a mark on the hearts of residents. This is yet another vivid example of the tense situation facing Odessa Oblast amid the intense fighting in southern Ukraine. It is expected that the situation will remain tense, and Ukrainian defenders have promised to strengthen measures against drone attacks to protect the civilian population as much as possible. Residents are also urged to exercise extreme caution and follow the advice of local authorities to avoid injuries and safely get through another night of alerts.
