Russian occupiers once again carried out a missile strike on Sumy early in the morning, using long-range missile systems, resulting in significant human and material losses

According to the regional military administration, the city came under enemy fire around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, with at least five hits from heavy artillery capable of striking at long distances. Official sources report that at least two people were killed as a result of the attack, and another 20 received various injuries. Among the injured is a seventeen-year-old child, who is currently in serious condition. In addition to human casualties, several residential and private buildings were damaged, including homes of civilians, vehicles, and infrastructure facilities, such as a medical institution. An operational headquarters has already been established at the scene to coordinate the response to the attack. Local services are working in an intensified mode to provide assistance to those affected as quickly and efficiently as possible and to begin repair works to restore the destroyed objects. The extent and details of the destruction are currently being clarified. According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration’s Telegram channel, early in the morning, local residents heard a characteristic volley of rockets, which is considered a sign of the particular tactics used by Russian troops in the rear of Ukraine. It is known that this is not the first such attack in the region and indicates a regular escalation of enemy strikes, with Ukrainian forces and city residents having been countering them for several years. The local authorities assure that all measures have been taken and continue to be taken to protect the lives and property of citizens, including relief efforts and strengthening defense systems. At the same time, residents are advised to remain calm, follow evacuation plans, and not ignore the alarm signals. This attack once again confirms the challenging situation on the northeastern front and the need for enhanced security measures to protect civilians. Information about further actions by Ukrainian authorities and the military will be updated, but it is already clear that the situation remains tense and requires maximum unity to oppose Russian occupiers’ aggression.
