In Kharkiv, law enforcement officers uncovered and detained a Russian agent who deeply infiltrated the ranks of the National Guard of Ukraine and provided valuable intelligence to the enemy, working along Kremlin’s agent network

The criminal mix of treason and subversive activity was uncovered by officers of the Security Service of Ukraine after a lengthy and thorough investigation. According to official sources, the detainee — a 42-year-old local resident, mobilized to an assault brigade of the National Guard — turned out not just to be an employee of Ukrainian security forces, but also an active agent of Russian special services, who used his position in a military unit to leak information to the enemy. Investigators established that this man maintained contacts with representatives of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation via the messaging app Telegram. As a platoon commander, he transmitted valuable data to the occupiers, including coordinates of command posts, training centers, and other military facilities, deployment locations, and backup points of the unit where he served. The criminal also provided lists of officers and data on the combat strength of the unit — from individual companies to battalions. This information was incredibly valuable to the enemy, enabling them to better plan strikes and air operation targets. Particularly alarming is the fact that the FSB promised the agent to arrange his "evacuation" from the combat zone across the front line in the Kharkiv direction — another proof of how deeply hostile foreign intelligence services have penetrated Ukrainian territory and how aggressive their espionage activities are. After the detention, law enforcement conducted a series of operational measures aimed at protecting intelligence data and securing military facilities, including efforts to prevent possible further attempts to leak information. During searches of the suspect, a mobile phone containing evidence of his collaboration with Russian special services was confiscated. Currently, SBU investigators have notified the individual of suspicion of treason committed in wartime — a grave charge given the current conflict. The man is in custody, and he faces life imprisonment or significant prison terms for treason against the homeland. Dismantling such agents is a crucial part of protecting our country from internal and external threats. The war Ukraine is waging against Russian aggression requires heightened vigilance from all security agencies, and the detention of this "mole" in Kharkiv confirms that the enemy is strengthening its espionage networks and attempting to penetrate the most secure state institutions, aiming to sow discord and weaken the nation's defense capacity. Ukrainian law enforcement and intelligence services continue working around the clock to prevent further betrayals and eliminate any sabotage activities in favor of the enemy.
