Sumy region has once again come under fire from Russian occupation forces, which was tragically confirmed by the news of the death of another civilian injured during a recent shelling of the city. A 43-year-old man, who was in extremely critical condition following a missile attack carried out by the Russian army on Tuesday, died in hospital. This marks the fourth civilian death as a result of the enemy’s aggression against the peaceful population of Sumy over the past several days. According to the press service of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the tragedy occurred due to damage to city infrastructure caused by enemy armed vehicles. They stated, "Unfortunately, we have one more loss among those injured as a result of today’s enemy attack on Sumy." Details of the incident reveal that the man, who was hospitalized with serious wounds, could not fight for his life. It is known that he was only 43 years old, remained in critical condition in the hospital, and his death has become an ultimate confirmation of the terrible consequences of the Russian assault. It is important to note that, besides this loss, the tragic consequences for the man’s family did not end there. His 7-year-old daughter, also wounded during the shelling, is in serious condition. No further details about her state are provided, but it is evident that she sustained severe injuries. This once again highlights the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe that unfolded last Tuesday in the city center. Recall that on that day, Russian troops struck residential districts of Sumy with long-range rocket artillery (MLRS), turning an ordinary day into a real tragedy for hundreds of people. Preliminary reports indicated three fatalities and about 25 wounded, including both children and adults. Most of the injured are in serious or very serious condition, and sadly, the number of victims continues to grow. The shelling of Sumy region serves as a stark reminder of the price paid by civilians for Russian military aggression. Local authorities and rescue services are tirelessly working to provide first aid to those affected and to investigate the circumstances of the tragedy, but human suffering and losses remain unbearably high. The Russian attacks not only destroy infrastructure but also devastate human lives, destroying the sense of security and stability among residents. Residents of Sumy and all of Ukraine repeatedly call on the international community to increase pressure on Russia to stop these brutal attacks and to ensure the protection of civilians. The situation in Sumy and other frontline regions causes deep concern and demands urgent measures to ensure the safety of the peaceful population and to put an end to war crimes. We all hope that peace and calm will soon return to the region, but for now, the reality requires us to remain vigilant, support those affected, and not forget the importance of defending Ukraine’s national interests and sovereignty.
