The opponent congratulated Navrotskyi on his victory in the presidential elections in Poland
A participant in the pre-election race, representing different political views—a kind of opponent—sincerely congratulated Karol Navrotskyi on an important victory in the presidential elections in the neighboring country. Warsaw’s mayor, Rafał Trzaskowski, who during the presidential campaign was the main contender from the ruling Civic Platform party and once headed Poland’s capital, commented for the first time after the vote count on his result and congratulated the winner. In his statement, published on the social network X (formerly Twitter), Trzaskowski expressed sincere gratitude to every citizen of Poland who voted for him. He emphasized that each vote is important and reflects people’s desire for change, for a country that would match their dreams and values. He also wholeheartedly congratulated Karol Navrotskyi, as stated in his message. “I fought to build a Poland together—strong, safe, honest, and compassionate towards everyone. For a modern country where everyone can achieve their goals, realize their aspirations, and activate their potential. Sincerely, thank you to all who supported this idea and believed in the prospects of our nation,” he wrote. At the same time, he did not hide his disappointment that he was unable to persuade the majority of Polish society about the correctness of his views and the idea of developing the country. “Although I did not become the elected president, I sincerely congratulate Karol Navrotskyi on his victory. This victory obliges and presents new challenges—especially in such difficult times when the country and the entire region are under close scrutiny from external and internal challenges,” Trzaskowski noted in his statement. He emphasized that the election results demonstrated the equality of the candidates and made reformers and the political elite think about the directions of further development of the country. According to official data from the Polish Central Electoral Commission, the results of the second round of the presidential elections showed that Karol Navrotskyi received 50.89% of voters’ votes, while Rafał Trzaskowski garnered 49.11%. This means the fight was extremely intense and almost evenly matched, highlighting the serious division among the electorate in the country. Following the announcement of the election results, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, according to internal sources, stated that he would bring a motion to Parliament for a vote of no confidence in the so-called “council”—the government team that is managing the country until a new government is formed under the elected president. The presidential elections in Poland are not only a change of personnel but also pivotal for shaping the country’s foreign and domestic policy as a whole. They have become a key instrument in transforming attitudes toward neighboring Ukraine and regional processes. This stage marked a shift in public sentiment and views regarding cooperation with neighbors and defined new vectors for the country’s development.
