The General Staff of Ukraine reports a significant escalation of hostilities on the front over the past day
According to the latest summary as of June 2, a record number of clashes—117 armed engagements—have been registered in the fighting operations in eastern and southern Ukraine, indicating a tense situation and active combat between Ukrainian defenders and Russian occupation forces. Overall, during the day, Russian troops intensified their activity not only on the ground but also through missile and aviation strikes, delivering considerable blows to Ukrainian positions and civilian settlements. The enemy conducted a total of 2 missile strikes and 49 aerial attacks, using three missiles and over 78 guided aerial bombs. Additionally, approximately 1,353 combat drones—kamikaze drones—were launched, highlighting the scale of modern technological use in the conflict. Ukrainian defenders note that nearly 4,000 shellings of positions and settlements were carried out during the day, demonstrating a principled struggle for every piece of land and every life. Particularly intense fighting is observed in certain sectors. On the Kharkiv front, Ukrainian forces maintain control of the situation, repelling two assaults in the area of Vovchansk and Dovhenke. Fighting in this sector continues. On the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses seven times in areas of the settlements of Zapadne, Steova Novoselivka, Pishchanе, Zhrizove, and Zelenyi Hai. Ukrainian troops successfully repelled all these attacks, preventing the occupiers from advancing further. On the Lyman front, Russian forces made 15 attempts to storm Ukrainian positions near Hrechevika, Olhivka, Novyi Myr, Hlushchenkove, Ridkodub, Karpivka, and other settlements in this sector. Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled five attacks in the areas of Hryhorivka, Verkhnekamianske, and also in the direction of Serebranka, resisting the enemy with high combat readiness. In the Kramatorsk sector, the Ukrainian forces have repelled four Russian attacks in the areas of Bilya Hory and Kurdyumivka, with one battle still ongoing. Similarly, on the Toretsk direction, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled nine assaults in the areas of Dilyiivka, Pleschiivka, Toretsk, and Yablunkivka, preventing the occupiers from achieving their objectives and holding strategically important positions. Additionally, activity increased on the Pokrovsk direction, where the enemy conducted 36 offensive actions. Russian invaders were active in several settlements, including Poltavka, Myrolyubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Malynivka, Lysivka, Dachenke, and Udaine. Moreover, in the direction of Novopavlivka, Russian forces launched 19 attacks aimed at breaking Ukrainian resistance—targets included Kostyantynivka, Odradne, Novosilka, Vile Pole, Zeleny Pole, Novopil, as well as positions in the directions of Novoukrainka and Komas. In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled several enemy advances near the settlement of Stepove, while the situation on the Kursk direction remains tense: the occupiers carried out 15 attacks, with two clashes still ongoing. Summarizing the overall situation, Ukrainian armed forces are holding the defense across all key sectors of the front despite the high level of Russian aggression and the use of the most advanced combat systems. The operational situation remains challenging, but Ukrainian defenders demonstrate resilience and readiness to defend their land to the last. At the same time, alarming reports about the number of attacks indicate that intense fighting continues on the front line, and the struggle for control over territory remains sharp and tense.
