Russian occupiers are once again demanding human casualties, cynically shelling a fire and rescue station in Zaporizhzhia Region, which resulted in serious consequences and added anxiety to the already tense situation at the front

According to the latest reports, the situation in southeastern Ukraine remains tense. On June 2, Russian troops opened fire on one of the frontline settlements in Zaporizhzhia Region, where a fire and rescue station is stationed. This attack was already the second within a short period and confirms the cynicism and deliberate nature of Russian shelling, aimed not only at military targets but also at civilians and humanitarian workers involved in saving lives in the most critical situations. Fortunately, thanks to an organized system of protection and shelters, the personnel of the station were safe during the shelling. However, the number of those injured has not decreased: four rescuers were wounded, and eight others are undergoing medical examination. It is known that they are receiving all necessary medical assistance, including psychological support — because the experience and risks they face daily are difficult to overestimate. Significant damage was caused to the station's building, and off-road fire trucks were also hit by the loud blast. The rescuers lost part of their equipment, which may complicate further work in the combat zone. The most terrible aspect was that during the evacuation of the injured to treatment and stabilization points, Russian troops once again opened fire. This led to even more casualties among the rescuers and civilians they were trying to save. Sources from the State Emergency Service emphasize that the attacks by the occupiers are deliberate and cynical actions directed against those who risk their lives every day to save others. Representatives of the agency stress that such actions violate not only international law but also human values. They remind that Ukrainian rescuers demonstrate their courage and self-sacrifice daily, putting the lives and safety of citizens above all, despite the constant danger to their own lives. Despite difficult conditions and brutal shelling, Ukrainian rescuers remain steadfast in their mission. However, they call on the international community to increase pressure on the aggressor to stop these cynical attacks and to create at least minimal conditions for humanitarian services’ work in the occupied territories. This incident once again demonstrates the cynicism and impunity of Russian military forces, who intentionally target those fighting for the lives and health of others, stopping at nothing. Ukraine stands by its heroes — the rescuers — remaining true to its duty and showing the world that humanity and courage defend the country even under the most challenging conditions.
