On the evening of June 2, another attack took place in the city center, resulting in a tragedy — the death of an ambulance driver, and injuries to two other medical workers. This incident sparked a wave of outrage among residents and once again emphasized the danger posed by the invader’s war against the peaceful population. According to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the regional military administration, the incident occurred around 5:00 p.m. near the city’s main streets. The enemy’s strike, likely artillery, destroyed the ambulance — the vehicle caught fire and was completely burned. Unfortunately, the 66-year-old driver, a native born in 1957, died from his injuries inside the vehicle. He was performing his duty, risking his life during this difficult period. In addition to the loss of the medic’s life, two more staff members of the medical facility — a doctor and a nurse — were injured in the shelling and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Preliminary data indicate that they are aged 54 and 57, born in 1972 and 1966 respectively. It is known that the shelling completely destroyed the vehicle that was transporting the medical personnel. The Kherson regional prosecutor’s office noted that this incident was just one of six cases on that day when Russian troops shelled various districts of the region with artillery. Overall, during the day, 11 people were injured, including children and adults. Among the casualties was a five-year-old girl who was injured during the shelling. Another tragic report came from the city — around 4:00 a.m., Russian forces carried out a missile or artillery strike on Kherson, resulting in a fatal injury to a 40-year-old man. His life could not be saved; his injuries were incompatible with life. This once again reminded us of the relentless danger hanging over civilians who had to hide in shelters to avoid even greater casualties. The shelling of the city and region remains systematic and targeted, causing destruction, civilian casualties, and psychological stress. The local authorities urge residents to be cautious, avoid leaving shelters unnecessarily, and follow all safety recommendations during the combat period. This tragic series of events once again demonstrates the brutality of the military conflict and its unforeseen consequences for ordinary people who are forced to survive in this terrible wartime environment. This testimony of tragedy serves as a reminder: the fight for peace and security in the region continues, and each day can bring new challenges and unexpected losses.
