According to official data from the Ukrainian Air Force, during the night of May 31 and the morning of June 1, our country experienced a record number of strikes – specifically, 479 aerial attack means, most of which were unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles. Overall, Ukrainian defenders responded effectively to this large-scale attack: as a result of air defense measures, 385 enemy targets were destroyed. This includes the neutralization of 210 Shahed-type drones and three Kalibr/X-101 cruise missiles. A significant portion of the attacked drones were directly destroyed—172 drones of various types and modifications launched from areas controlled by Russia, such as Millerovo, Shatalovo, Kursk, Orel, Bryansk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. In addition to drones, the enemy also targeted strategic facilities: during the night, the launch of three "Iskander-M" and KN-23 ballistic missiles from the Kursk and Voronezh regions of the Russian Federation was recorded. Damage was also inflicted by air and ground-based weapons—such as X-101 cruise missiles and "Iskander-K." The primary target areas included Kharkiv, Sumy, Zhytomyr, Odesa, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. As of 13:30 on June 1, Ukrainian air defense systems had managed to neutralize 385 enemy attack means. Of these, 213 were shot down by fire damage systems, and 172 were suppressed or locationally lost due to electronic warfare systems. Of course, not all missiles and drones were destroyed in the air—some hits did reach their targets, with 18 confirmed incidents of strikes on objects across the country, which may indicate a significant threat to infrastructure and residential sectors. At the same time, Ukrainian forces demonstrate a high level of resilience and combat skill, showing the capability to withstand large-scale missile and drone attacks. These events serve as a reminder of the complex situation on the front line and the ongoing need to modernize defense systems to ensure the safety and protection of Ukrainian citizens. Despite significant losses and efforts by Ukrainian defenders, Russian aggression continues to launch strikes, but the Ukrainian people display an indomitable spirit and unwavering readiness to fight for their independence and future.
