S. National Intelligence, Avril Haines, intends to significantly change the format of daily intelligence briefings for President Donald Trump. The goal of this reform is to tailor the presentation of information to match the way the elected leader perceives information, thus making these meetings more effective and understandable specifically for him. According to sources, this initiative is driven by the fact that the current format, particularly the regular reading of documents, does not suit Trump very well, who, as per those surveyed, prefers information presented in a more dynamic format. According to reports from NBC News, Haines has already approached former and current intelligence personnel with a request to develop new ideas for improving the format of daily reports (PDB). One suggested option includes creating a video version of the brief, modeled after the television format of Fox News — a channel popular among the white electorate and personally close to Trump’s political circle. Under this concept, the president would receive daily informational videos in a TV broadcast style, employing techniques and stylistic elements characteristic of American news channels, similar to Fox News. To implement this idea, Haines’s office may hire a television industry producer responsible for producing the video brief. A well-known television host could be asked to present the daily report, making it more engaging and accessible for Trump. One NBC source noted that a key problem with previous formats for the current Ukrainian president — and by analogy, for Trump — is that he is not particularly inclined to read and prefers to receive information via television. This has prompted intelligence leadership to seek new approaches for delivering critical information. Additionally, Haines is considering changing the structure and content of the briefings. Instead of the traditional broad focus on a wide range of issues, there are plans to concentrate more on economic and trade matters — thus, paying less attention to details surrounding the war in Ukraine or other global conflicts. This approach aims to make the information more relevant to the current interests and political priorities of the Trump administration. Importantly, such changes are not a novelty in American political practice. Previous administrations have already employed a similar approach — both in the format and the content of intelligence briefings. In this context, reforming the PDB for Trump is part of a broader tradition of tailoring intelligence presentations to fit the style of the leader, which, according to experts, can improve understanding and the speed of response to current challenges at the highest levels of government.
