S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in the near future. According to high-ranking officials, the likelihood of such a meeting taking place before the end of 2025 has significantly decreased, and currently there are no concrete agreements or confirmed dates. Sources in the Kremlin emphasized that there is no official agreement regarding a plan to hold bilateral negotiations at this time. Reports highlight that, although ideas about a possible meeting are occasionally raised in discussions, no specific commitments or arrangements have been made so far. At the same time, the Kremlin responds with optimism to the fact of the telephone conversations between the two leaders, viewing them as useful for maintaining diplomatic dialogue. Vladimir Putin’s assistant, Yuri Ushakov, noted that a personal meeting of the world leaders is indeed a significant event capable of influencing the future course of international relations and leading to substantial results. However, he also pointed out that any achievements within the negotiation process will depend on the coordinated efforts of the teams involved, as they are indispensable for preparing such diplomatic encounters. In his comments, Ushakov stated that predicting the timing of a possible meeting is a very complex task, and attempts to make specific forecasts are futile. “Guessing exactly when this will happen is pointless. One might suppose it could happen as early as this year… but that does not guarantee anything and, essentially, is not even necessary,” he said, indicating the difficulty and unpredictability of diplomatic processes. It is worth noting that Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire for a swift meeting with Vladimir Putin. According to him, personal negotiations are the only way to achieve meaningful changes in bilateral relations and to help address current international issues. However, at present, this idea remains uncertain, as both sides have managed to maintain a diplomatic tone and avoid actively moving toward specific dates, which reflects the complexity and delicacy of the diplomatic processes between the U.S. and Russia in contemporary conditions.
