In Russia, ongoing tensions related to the security situation and numerous sabotage incidents remain a focus of active media attention

Particular concern is caused by a new wave of provocations in border regions, where last night, large-scale collapses occurred on bridges connecting key transportation routes. According to official information released by the investigation and law enforcement agencies of the country, both incidents have been classified as terrorist acts, marking a new phase in the criminal investigation and efforts to prevent further subversive activities. According to reports from Russian investigation authorities, both bridges in the Bryansk and Kursk regions were targeted in attacks during the night of June 1. The first wave of destruction took place in the Bryansk region, where dispatchers recorded a sudden collapse of a bridge used for vehicle traffic. This happened around midnight, when the bridge was empty of transport due to the popular route from the neighboring territory. Later, information was received about another attack — in the Kursk region, where sources indicate that this bridge was also blown up during the same time period. As a result, explosions were heard near the Kursk bridge, and its structure was damaged. As "Meduza" reports, citing sources within the Investigative Committee, the detonation was likely premeditated, with explosive devices possibly planted in the bridges' structures in advance. Official data confirm that at the moment of the explosion in the Kursk region, a passenger train was traveling along that route. Although the train was moving at a low speed, it derailed as a result of the blast. This caused three carriages to fall, but fortunately, no passengers were injured since the train was traveling slowly. The most interesting and alarming aspects are the consequences of both actions, as well as preliminary assumptions about the possible involvement of saboteurs. According to initial data from sources, Ukrainian Security Service and other intelligence agencies may be implicated in planting explosive devices in the bridge structures, which confirms an increase in hybrid attacks targeting border civilian infrastructure. Another incident gaining resonance is the car bridge accident in the Bryansk region, which occurred simultaneously with a passenger train passing nearby. As preliminary data indicate, at least seven people died and about 70 were injured in the road collapse. This points to a targeted strike against transportation infrastructure of strategic importance to the region, and possibly to the country as a whole. The exact circumstances and causes of the destruction are still being investigated by law enforcement, but it is already clear that it was a deliberate act of sabotage. The response from official authorities was swift. Representatives of the Russian investigative agencies officially classified both incidents as terrorist acts, prompting an increase in security measures in border regions. According to reports from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Security Service, investigative measures are currently underway across the entire line to identify the organizers and perpetrators of the sabotage. Experts emphasize that such attacks are signs of rising tensions and may be attempts to destabilize the internal situation in Russia. They also cast doubt on the maximum resilience and safety of the country’s critical transport infrastructure, especially railways and roads of strategic and logistical importance. Although information remains fragmented, it is evident that Russian security services are deeply concerned about this series of sabotage actions, and authorities have pledged to strengthen protection of strategic facilities. An official representative of the Investigative Committee stated that the investigation is ongoing and that all those responsible will be brought to justice. Overall, the situation in the region remains tense. The threat of a new wave of provocations looms, raising concerns about civilian safety and the stability of the transport system. Ukrainian and international experts are calling for urgent measures to prevent further attacks on strategic objects, as any new terrorist act could provoke significant public resonance and complicate peaceful life in Russia’s border areas.
