According to the analytical project DeepState, the average number of daily offensive operations conducted by the Russians in May 2025 reached 183.6 incidents, up from 154.8 in April, indicating a sharp escalation by the occupation forces. Analysis of the figures shows that the beginning and end of May were particularly active periods, when Russians attempted to maintain a high level of tension at the front. While in April Russian military conducted over 190 assaults only twice per day, by May there were 13 such days, almost every other day. The most intense day was May 4, when the enemy carried out a record 269 assault actions in a single day, representing a significant increase compared to previous periods. According to sources from intelligence and military experts, this rise in Russian activity indicates an attempt to break Ukrainian defenses and create additional difficulties for Ukrainian troops. Particularly intensive were the periods when the enemy employed numerous assault groups, utilized quad bikes and motorcycles for rapid tactical breakthroughs, and launched deep raids into Ukrainian territories. Thus, Russian troops are trying to secure their positions in strategically important areas and identify weak spots in the Ukrainian defenses. Commenting on the current situation, State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko said in a live telethon on June 1 that Russia continues to press on Ukraine's borders in the Sumy region. According to him, occupation groups operating on quad bikes and motorcycles are trying to penetrate Ukrainian territory as deeply as possible, creating a foothold for further advances, waiting for reinforcements, and attempting to attack Ukrainian Armed Forces positions. Recently, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi shared that on May 31 he reported a significant increase in Russian military activity on the Zaporizhzhia direction. The Ukrainian commander emphasized that the enemy is conducting active offensive operations in this sector of the front, attempting to secure their positions and advance forward. This indicates that Russian offensive actions are ongoing and remain one of the main threats to Ukrainian forces and the population. Overall, the situation in May this year demonstrated a considerable escalation of hostilities and a deterioration of the front line, and the trend of increasing assaults and attacks reflects Russia's desire to intensify pressure on Ukrainian positions amid ongoing war. Ukraine continues to adapt its defense strategies, analyzing this dynamic and preparing for possible new escalations by the enemy.
