On the first night of June, Ukraine’s capital once again became the target of a large-scale attack by Russian forces. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), the occupiers conducted a combined strike, deploying both drones and ballistic missiles simultaneously in an attempt to maximize the impact of their attack. KCMA Head Timur Tkachенко confirmed during a briefing on his official channel that the enemy is trying to intensify pressure on Kyiv using this method. According to Tkachенко: “Russian military forces are launching both ballistic missiles and attack drones simultaneously. This indicates increasing aggression and a desire to complicate the situation for Kyiv residents. Therefore, we urge all Kyiv residents to stay in safe locations until the alarm is over.” The Kyiv City Military Administration reports that the first alarm sounded at 1:43 a.m., when residents received alerts about a possible air strike. Just one minute later, at 1:44 a.m., an additional warning was issued regarding a potential ballistic missile threat — a sign that the enemy is actively attempting to use missile artillery to cause maximum damage. It is noted that during these hours, city authorities and air defense personnel operated in an intensified mode, trying to intercept and neutralize all targets identified for attack. At the same time, residents are advised not to ignore the siren signals, to seek shelter, and to stay in safe locations until the danger subsides. Experts point out that such combined attacks are Russia’s attempt to sow panic, break the morale of Ukrainians, and create a situation where urban infrastructure would be targeted again. Depending on the extent of damage, it is still unknown how much the consequences of this wave of strikes have been mitigated, but military personnel and specialists are doing their best to quickly localize and eliminate the effects. The situation in Kyiv remains tense, and authorities call on residents to exercise caution and responsibility. Warnings about possible new shellings have become a common part of Kyiv residents’ lives, yet each time they serve as a reminder of the danger threatening the city and its inhabitants. At the same time, the Ukrainian army and air defense systems continue to work on protecting the capital, striving to minimize the impact of enemy aggression. Overall, the night of June 1 was yet another confirmation that Russian occupiers do not cease using all available methods to exert pressure on Ukraine. The situation remains challenging, but the Ukrainian people and military demonstrate resilience and determination in their fight for security and independence.
