According to him, the border zone of Sumy region has now become one of the hottest areas for Russian attacks. This is confirmed by data from the General Staff, which indicates that the enemy continues attempts to break through the Ukrainian defensive line specifically in this part of the country. During his monthly report, Syrskyi emphasized that, given the deployment of enemy forces, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are increasing their efforts to contain breakthroughs by the adversary. "Our defenders continue to fight, inflicting significant losses on the enemy and destroying its concentrated forces," he said. The Commander-in-Chief noted that the main enemy efforts are concentrated in the directions of Pokrovske, Toretske, Lyman, and Novopavlivka, as well as along the borders with the Russian Federation in Sumschyna. Additionally, the enemy's attention is currently focused on the Zaporizhzhia direction, where they have intensified their offensive operations, seeking to penetrate further into Ukrainian territory. General Syrskyi stressed that the Ukrainian army is effectively resisting Russian troops by employing modern countermeasures. “Thanks to our efforts, including the use of DeepStrike drones, we have already launched strikes on 58 targets in Russia in May. These included military objects, infrastructure, and capabilities of the enemy's military-industrial complex, such as production facilities for explosive materials and attack drones. This significantly complicates the logistics and the ability of the Russian forces to sustain active offensive operations,” he explained. The commander added that operations against the enemy are ongoing not only at the front line but also in rear areas. Specifically, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to purposefully destroy enemy depots and production facilities, undermining the resource base of Russian troops. “We do not stop for a moment, destroying the enemy and its defensive potential deep in the rear,” Syrskyi emphasized. Regarding the situation in the Kursk direction, he reported that Ukrainian troops continue to conduct operations aimed at restraining the enemy in this zone. However, according to the commander, the adversary has a significant advantage in the use of fiber-optic drones, which complicates the Ukrainian forces' ability to combat Russian aircraft and drones precisely. This necessitates continuous improvement of the tactical and technical capabilities of our defenders. Overall, the situation remains tense, but Ukrainian defenders demonstrate resilience and the ability to respond swiftly to any challenges. Although new challenges are emerging in the war zone in the east and north, Ukrainian forces continue to hold the line, destroying enemy plans and strengthening their positions. Military experts say that the coming weeks will again be a test for both sides, and the Ukrainian people must be prepared for a prolonged struggle for independence and territorial integrity.
