On the night of May 31, five unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) attacked the area, resulting in a large-scale tragedy for farms and agricultural infrastructure. According to official sources from the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the attack on one of the villages in the Romensky community destroyed entire farm buildings and burned hundreds of domestic animals. This horrific strike caused severe losses for local farmers, as dozens of tons of grain stored in warehouses were destroyed, and it significantly affected the region’s food security. Additionally, during this attack, one drone struck a vehicle delivering bread in the neighboring Nedryhailiv community. As a result, a local driver was injured—he received medical assistance, but the situation remains tense. This attack impacted not only property and food reserves but also endangered the safety and lives of people who are daily struggling for survival. The occupiers did not stop there. In an attempt to destroy the agricultural potential of Trostyanets, Russian forces carried out a missile strike and used 13 drones. As a result, several agricultural enterprises were damaged, and vehicles critical for farm work were burned. Explosions and fires caused significant damage, exacerbating the tense situation and increasing socio-economic pressure on the region. This underscores the scale of destruction that Russia continues to inflict on Ukrainian villages and farms as part of its large-scale aggression. Local communities, farmers, and agricultural enterprises remain under serious threat, with their harvests and livestock operations under constant risk. Authorities are calling for the strict enhancement of protection for critical infrastructure and preparing for further challenges. The region urges government bodies, international partners, and the public to coordinate efforts to prevent similar tragedies and protect the area. It is clear that maintaining stability and security in Sumy requires the coordinated work of all institutions and the support of efforts aimed at restoring energy capabilities and safeguarding the population.
