Russian forces have advanced even deeper into Sumschyna: Occupied territory near Oleksandriya

According to data from the analytical project DeepState, the situation at the border of the Sumy region with Russia continues to worsen. At the end of May, occupying forces gained new positions near the small village of Oleksandriya, which is located close to the state border. This means that the number of territories occupied and controlled by the enemy in this area has significantly increased, causing concern among military personnel and local residents alike. Official data as of May 30 indicate that a substantial portion of the territory in this zone is already marked as occupied — under the control of Russian troops. Meanwhile, the remaining areas, which previously were under Ukrainian control, are labeled as a "grey zone," meaning an unclear situation that is either temporarily under the authority of the government or under unknown influence. Intense fighting and the enemy's advance in this region are leading to a deterioration of safety for local inhabitants and complicating the defensive situation. In contrast to the situation on May 29, when maps showed almost no occupation forces in this area and control over the territory seemed more stable, the situation changed radically within just a few days. At that time, the entire western part of the region still remained under Ukrainian control, but now new territories are occupied. This increase in occupied territories in the Sumy region has become another complex element in the overall picture of combat operations in northeastern Ukraine. Additionally, recent reports confirm that the enemy has seized another important point — Yelyzavetivka in Donetsk, further complicating the situation in the region. During a briefing on May 31, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized that Russian troops made a significant breakthrough in the Zaporizhzhia direction and intensified their activity near the border with Sumy. According to him, the enemy's main efforts are now concentrated on this front, posing an additional challenge for Ukrainian defenders. Currently, Ukrainian military personnel are making maximum efforts to hold the territories and prevent further enemy advances. However, the situation remains tense, as the enemy continues to strengthen their positions and seeks to secure new footholds. Local communities in the risk zone are once again facing dangers — loss of residential buildings, infrastructure destruction, and worsening living conditions. The country is experiencing alarming developments. Experts and military analysts warn that the situation could worsen if Russian troops continue to make active breakthroughs and seize new territories. Ukraine reserves the right to use all necessary means to protect its borders and sovereignty, and military leadership is calling for increased mobilization and vigilance. Overall, the events in Sumschyna demonstrate that the war continues and remains unpredictable. While Ukrainian armed forces and authorities are doing everything possible to contain the enemy and preserve the country's integrity, the situation remains highly tense and requires maximum attention from the state and the international community.
