Intense fighting continues in Sumy region along certain sections of the border, as a result of active military operations and ongoing enemy attempts to break through, the regional military administration reports

Oleg Hryhorov, the head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, noted that the situation in the region remains difficult but under control. In an interview with journalists, he emphasized: “Currently, the operational situation remains tense but fully under control. The fighting occurs only in specific sections of the border, particularly in the KhoTinska and Yunakivska community areas. Our military is repelling attacks by small enemy groups trying to penetrate into border villages and establish a presence there to create conditions for further operations.” According to Oleg Hryhorov, the frontline situation is constantly changing and is subject to analysis. In some cases, Ukrainian defenders take the initiative and repel enemy assaults, while in others, they must respond to advances using all available forces and means. Periodic provocations by the enemy are registered in the region, but Ukrainian troops remain fully prepared and focused on defense. Overall, over the past day, more than 50 people have been evacuated from border communities in Sumy region, indicating a worsening situation and the need for quick responses to any unexpected challenges. Settlements near the border are on high alert, as the enemy continues to intensify efforts to breach the Ukrainian border and establish a foothold in the region. Regional authorities call on residents to stay in thousands of shelters and follow the instructions of defense services to minimize risks and preserve the lives and health of citizens during this critical period. The reliability of the region’s defense remains strictly monitored, and Ukrainian defenders continue to fight for Sumy’s security, preventing the enemy from consolidating and expanding its positions in the area.
