Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out a large-scale and impressive drone operation, which has become one of the most notable recent events, announced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a recent interview

According to him, Ukrainian troops employed around 400 drones in the combat campaign, and this bold attack resulted in significant losses for Russian equipment — more than forty units of Russian military hardware were destroyed in a single strike. The President emphasized that this operation marked a kind of historic milestone in the use of unmanned systems on the battlefield for Ukraine. “Recently, we conducted one of the most complex and effective strikes, demonstrating our progress in military tactics,” Zelensky stated. He explained that Ukrainian servicemen launched 400 mini-drones simultaneously, posing a real challenge to Russian air defense systems. The impressive outcome — the destruction of over forty pieces of military equipment — underscores the Ukrainian army’s ability to leverage modern technology in its fight against the aggressor. This operation was the first of its kind in the history of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the President noted that its success paves the way for even larger-scale actions in the future. Zelensky expressed confidence that Ukrainian military units are capable of carrying out other memorable drone operations on an even more astonishing scale. In his view, such tactics are changing the status quo and placing Russians at a disadvantage in the fight. During the interview, Zelensky also discussed the development of air defense systems, particularly in creating and improving countermeasures against drone aircraft. “We understand the capabilities of our fighters — MiG-29s, F-16s — and the number of drones we can launch in one sortie,” he explained. Ukraine is actively working on developing and deploying drone intercept systems, also known as “drone-drones,” which are already being used in combat. Zelensky highlighted that the goal of these new systems is to destroy advanced Russian strike drones “Shaheds,” which can penetrate at high altitudes inaccessible to regular mobile fire groups. With such systems, the Ukrainian army will be more effective in countering modern threats and ensuring greater security at strategically important sections of the front. Overall, according to the President, these steps signify a transition to new forms of warfare, where technology and innovative solutions become key elements in Ukraine’s fight for independence. This demonstrates the high level of readiness and modernization of Ukrainian command, as well as the indomitable will of the Ukrainian people to defend their land by any means necessary. In conditions of constant challenges and new enemy tactics, Ukrainian forces continue to show their ability not only to adapt but also to adopt the latest international standards of modern warfare.
