On the night of May 28, Kharkiv region once again became the scene of a large-scale air attack carried out by Russian occupiers, who used uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) to strike civilian objects and regional infrastructure
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU), more than a dozen hits were recorded as a result of these Russian raids, including the destruction of residential buildings, production facilities, and open areas. Unfortunately, during the attack, one local resident was killed, and seven others were injured, including a child. According to official data, the attack targeted several settlements in the Chuhuiv and Kharkiv districts of the region, specifically in the settlements of Vasyshivе, Bezlyudivka, and Eshar. These locations suffered from strikes that caused large fires, destruction, and human casualties. Details were immediately shared by the SESU on their Telegram channel, emphasizing that Russian troops deliberately attacked civilian infrastructure. For instance, in Vasyshivе, a production workshop and warehouse located on the premises of a private enterprise were on fire. The total area of the fire exceeded 1,500 square meters—massive damage for local industry and another reason for alarm among residents. No less damage was inflicted on open areas in Bezlyudivka, where hits caused a fire in dry vegetation covering more than 1,000 square meters. Another strike hit a multi-story residential building in Eshar. A Russian UAV targeted the apartment building, resulting in a fire that was extinguished by a large team of firefighters. Over 80 rescuers and 20 units of specialized equipment were involved in responding to these attacks, including bomb disposal teams, as the region was left with numerous mines and debris after the shelling. Rescue services responded quickly and efficiently to prevent further casualties and to minimize the damage. Equipment and personnel worked under challenging conditions, extinguishing fires and inspecting damaged sites. Local fire units from Vasyshivе also played an active role in eliminated the consequences of the attacks. It should be reminded that this is not the first attack on Kharkiv region in recent times. Earlier, Kharkiv regional military administration head Oleg Sinegubov reported that the region had already suffered losses due to aerial aggression from Russian UAVs—at least eight people were injured, including a 4-year-old child. This underscores once again the dangerous situation faced by the peaceful population of the region and the need to strengthen defensive measures to prevent further casualties. Overall, the situation in Kharkiv region remains tense. Russian forces continue to use drones for targeted strikes, attempting to sow fear and destruction among the local population, while Ukrainian rescue workers and military personnel work daily to protect and restore the region. Residents continue to live in a state of anxiety and anticipation, as each new day may bring new challenges. Local authorities urge residents to stay alert, follow safety rules, and exercise extra caution during this difficult time. Ukraine and its Western allies reiterate their unwavering support for Kharkiv region in the fight against Russian aggression, striving to restore peace and stability in this strategically important area.
