The incident occurred last Tuesday, May 26, and has already caused widespread resonance in the city and beyond. According to law enforcement agencies, three men aged 38, 48, and 49, as well as a 45-year-old woman, were involved in the detention. All of them are currently in temporary detention facilities, and investigators are clarifying all circumstances of the incident. According to official information from the Cherkasy Regional Police, the incident took place on Rizdvyana Street, near the recruitment center. During a check of military registration documents, the suspects caused a conflict with TRSSC employees, subsequently making threats and even resorting to physical violence. Law enforcement responded quickly and promptly detained the offenders, applying Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine regarding their arrest in a custodial manner. The prosecutor of Cherkasy District Prosecutor’s Office stated that investigative actions are ongoing, and the issue of notifying the detainees of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — hooliganism — is being decided. The sanctions for this article envisage a punishment of imprisonment for two to five years, and this is currently being addressed by the investigation. Additionally, investigators are exploring the possible qualification of the suspects’ actions, as the assault was quite aggressive and unexpected. This is not the first case of violence against military personnel in Cherkasy region. A few days prior, on May 26, a similar incident occurred in Pryluky city, Chernihiv region. There, a man attacked a serviceman with a knife inside the TRSSC building — reports indicate that the military man sustained a wound to his forearm. These incidents demonstrate that tensions surrounding mobilization procedures and the work of the military remain high, causing concern among law enforcement agencies and local residents. Local authorities and law enforcement emphasize the need to strengthen security and control measures at military facilities and urge citizens to stay calm and abide by the law. At the same time, legal experts stress that any acts of violence, especially against those performing their official duties, must be promptly and objectively investigated and punished in accordance with the law. The investigation into these cases is ongoing, and all circumstances of the assault are being clarified to prevent similar incidents in the future. The local community and military representatives hope for a swift and just resolution of the situation and call on citizens to adhere to order and respect the law.
