In the Kirovohrad region, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), in cooperation with military counterintelligence, detained a man who, over a long period, became a sinister "target" for Russian special services — the so-called "crocodile" at a military unit operating in central Ukraine. According to an official statement from the agency, the 32-year-old resident of the region, who worked as a driver-electrician at one of the military units, cooperated with Russian intelligence services for an extended time, serving as an informant and a targetting coordicator for strikes on strategically important objects. His actions had a single goal — to assist the enemy in precisely hitting Ukrainian targets and military units, for which he at that time saw personal benefit and the prospect of maintaining his life in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk. According to investigators, the detained individual collected and relayed confidential information to the enemy — coordinates of hospitals providing aid to wounded Ukrainian defenders, as well as routes of military unit movements on the front and types of equipment used. The information was transmitted through a communication channel he used during an attempt to gather intelligence ("eye") on the military routine near one of the defense objects. During a search, law enforcement officers seized a mobile phone on which evidence of cooperation with Russian special services was stored. It is important to note that the channel facilitating enemy support was opened on his own initiative — the suspect actively commented on pro-Russian messages in Telegram channels, which helped investigators find hidden traces of his cooperation. Russian intelligence services, during recruitment, promised "monetary reward" and a guarantee of "evacuation" to territory temporarily controlled by the occupiers in Donetsk region, where he intended to join Russian armed formations. However, that promise remained unfulfilled — he did not receive any financial payments or "substantial guarantees." According to the information obtained, law enforcement detained him "red-handed" during an attempt to conduct visual reconnaissance near a military facility, which provided crucial evidence of his guilt. During the search, they confiscated a mobile device, which became a key source of evidence in the case. Investigators are now working to establish his entire network of contacts and possible other accomplices. Currently, he has been charged under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — treason in a state of martial law. This crime carries a serious penalty — life imprisonment with asset confiscation, given that the security of the entire country and its people is at stake. According to representatives of the security services, this operation is yet another proof that in the war against Russia, Ukrainian law enforcement and intelligence agencies do not overlook any threat, striving to neutralize internal traitors and strengthen institutional security. Ukraine continues to enhance its measures to combat agent networks operating inside the country. Kirovohrad region, like others, remains a focus of special attention for Ukrainian intelligence services, who work daily to identify and prevent traitors, ensuring a safe and independent future for every Ukrainian.
