This is an important milestone in supporting Ukraine’s military capabilities, once again emphasizing close cooperation between the countries in countering Russian aggression. The Dutch Ministry of Defence made this information public through its official website, confirming that this marks the final stage of delivering equipment that already holds strategic significance for the Ukrainian Air Force. According to the department, the last Dutch F-16s designated for Ukraine departed on Monday from Volkel Air Base, located in the southern part of the country. They were headed to Belgium, where Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel will conduct preparatory work before the transfer. During the departure ceremony, which was attended in person by Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans, he highlighted the importance of this event. The minister stated that support in the form of F-16s is vital for Ukraine because these aircraft enable Ukrainian forces to keep Russian troops at a distance and defend their land. Ruben Brekelmans also emphasized that this step does not mean the Netherlands is exiting the “Fighter Jet Coalition,” which the country is leading together with Denmark and the USA. It is noted that the Netherlands remains an active participant in joint efforts to support Ukrainian security forces, including responsibilities for technical maintenance and ensuring the operational readiness of the fighter jets, as well as organizing pilot training at the European F-16 Training Centre (EFTC) located in Romania. It is worth recalling that Ukrainian armed forces received their first batch of F-16s back in October 2024, which was a significant step in strengthening the country’s defense capabilities. In spring 2025, reports emerged of a second transport of this type of equipment, and in March, President Volodymyr Zelensky repeatedly emphasized that Ukraine’s armed forces had already received additional F-16s from the Netherlands. At the same time, authorities emphasize that the delivery of F-16s is only part of a broader international coalition support effort in the fight for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. Overall, the completion of this phase of F-16 fighter jet deliveries symbolizes a new step in international assistance and the enhancement of Ukraine’s defense potential. It also confirms that participating countries are not only supporting tactical objectives but also demonstrating their firm stance on protecting Ukraine’s sovereignty during this challenging period of war.
