In Pryluky, located in Chernihiv region, an incident occurred that shook the residents of the city and raised serious concerns about the safety of military personnel and civilians
During the day on May 25, an unexpected and rather tragic event took place in the premises of the local Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TЦK та СП), when one of the visitors attacked a serviceman with a knife. According to preliminary information, the police of Chernihiv region responded quickly to the call and detained the perpetrator, which brought relief to the community and allowed further investigative measures to be carried out. According to law enforcement authorities, the incident happened during a break in the center’s operations, when a man, brought in for identification purposes, suddenly became aggressive. Thus, the man, evidently in an emotionally agitated state, attacked a military personnel with a knife who was present in the hall. As a result of the attack, the serviceman sustained a stab wound to the forearm — the injury was quite serious, and he was immediately hospitalized at the nearest hospital, where medical professionals provided necessary care and are conducting further monitoring. The police opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 350 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “deliberate infliction of minor or moderate bodily injuries on a public official.” Under this article, the attacker faces criminal responsibility, which can entail imprisonment for a term of three to five years. The man who carried out the attack was immediately detained at the scene in accordance with administrative procedural legislation. Currently, the detainee is held in a temporary detention facility, an indictment has been brought against him, and the investigation is ongoing. According to sources in law enforcement, investigators are examining all circumstances of the incident, clarifying the motivation and conditions that highlight the seriousness of the event. While only the knife attack and the injured serviceman have been officially reported so far, public discussion and assumptions have already emerged among city residents regarding potential sources of aggression and safety in municipal institutions, especially in places where document checks and procedures are conducted. This incident raises concerns about the safety of military and civilian persons while in government facilities.
