Russian missile attack on the heart of Khmelnytskyi region: four dead and five wounded – official data from the OVA
On the night of May 24 to 25, residents of Khmelnytskyi region were once again targeted by Russian forces. According to official information from the regional military administration, the enemy carried out a large-scale missile strike, resulting in human tragedies and significant destruction of residential and social infrastructure in the region. According to Serhiy Tyurin, the head of the Khmelnytskyi regional military administration, the nocturnal attack caused severe consequences for the civilian population. "This night, the region experienced another act of terror by Russian troops. As a result of the shelling, four people were killed, and five others were injured and hospitalized. Among the wounded, one person is in serious condition; their life is currently not in danger, but medical teams are working around the clock," stated the regional leader. The attack destroyed residential buildings and damaged important social infrastructure facilities. Serhiy Tyurin reported that at the scene, six private homes were completely destroyed. Additionally, over twenty buildings have suffered varying degrees of damage: windows, roofs, facades—all in deteriorated condition, creating serious safety hazards for residents. Objects of social infrastructure were also affected by the missile strike. Specifically, windows were damaged in one educational institution, and bus stops in the city were hit, causing several routes to cease operation and creating additional inconvenience for residents. The issue of protecting civilians and ensuring rapid response to such attacks remains especially urgent. Regional authorities assure that they are working intensively to ensure the safety of residents, restore damaged facilities, and assist those affected. Attacks on Khmelnytskyi region are becoming more frequent, and their scale with each incident clearly demonstrates the complexity of the humanitarian situation in the region. Local authorities call on the population to stay vigilant, follow safety recommendations, and respond appropriately to air raid signals. Overall, Ukrainians have long become accustomed to the realities of war; however, each new attack results in human losses and destruction, which continue to be a pain and grief for many families.
