On Kherson region, another example of the worsening security situation has been recorded, a region that has long been in a conflict zone

This time, a worker from the State Emergency Service was targeted and sustained serious injuries in a drone attack carried out by Russian troops. According to official information, a 26-year-old emergency services employee was wounded in the village of Tomina Balka, located near the occupied territories. Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, confirmed that an enemy drone dropped explosives, causing an explosion. As a result, the young rescuer received severe injuries — cranio-brain trauma, blast injuries, a concussion, and shrapnel wounds to the back and arms. The man was quickly evacuated to the nearest medical facility, and doctors assess his condition as moderately severe. According to the head of the regional military administration, a targeted attack on civil protection workers is particularly alarming, as these specialists tirelessly work day and night to eliminate the consequences of hostilities in frontline settlements, restoring destroyed infrastructure and saving residents' lives. The escalation of the situation in Kherson is occurring amid ongoing military actions and frequent shelling by Russian forces, who have failed to adjust their tactics and objectives — including making civilian lives more difficult. Just a few days ago, on May 23, a local resident died as a result of a Russian mortar shelling in the village of Kizomys. This is yet another sad reminder that peace in the region remains elusive, and the danger to civilians grows daily. Russian occupiers actively utilize unmanned aerial vehicles for reconnaissance and attacks, deliberately targeting civilians and civil protection services. Drone attacks have become one of the dangerous modern war methods, significantly complicating the work of Ukrainian rescuers and emergency services, forcing them to operate under constant threat. Operating under difficult conditions and risking their lives, Ukrainian sapers and rescuers continue to carry out critical functions such as clearing the aftermath of battles, evacuating, and saving lives. However, the enemy's modern tactics — employing armed drones and terrorism — greatly hinder their work, increasing risks for all involved. Overall, the situation in the region remains tense, with daily reports of casualties and property damage reminding us of the need to strengthen security measures and exert international pressure on the aggressor to cease military actions. For local residents, this means constant combat readiness and caution, as safety in Kherson oblast continues to be at high risk.
