This tragedy came as a shocking blow to the local community and once again highlights the seriousness of psychological well-being issues among youth during periods of exams and testing. According to sources from Mukachevo.net, citing Telegram channel of Vitaliy Glagola, the boy fell from the window of a building in central Uzhhorod on the eve of the start of the External Independent Testing (ZNO). Preliminary reports suggest that the cause of this brutal and tragic event was deep disappointment regarding his results on the National Multisubject Test (NMT), which he failed. Medical professionals who arrived at the scene did everything possible to save the young man, but his numerous injuries were incompatible with life, and he died at the scene. The deceased was a second-year student at the theatrical department of Uzhhorod Academy of Culture and Arts, indicating his fairly high level of interest in the arts and stage performance. He was from Khust and began his studies there last year. Statistics show that this tragic incident occurred on the day when the young person was taking that very important exam at one of Uzhhorod’s schools, No. 1. According to a peer who was nearby during the tragedy, before ending his life, the boy, who was smiling, said that he probably did not pass the test. This indicates his internal struggle and deep disappointment caused by his failure. Additionally, a mobile phone was found in the boy’s room, where, according to journalist Vitaliy Glagola, a pre-death video recording was discovered. In this video, the young man explained his motivations—he believed he had failed the exam, which led to deep depression and hopelessness. He apologized to his parents and expressed his despair, trying through his action to convey a profound internal crisis and an inability to find a way out of his situation. It is known that the family of the deceased was experiencing certain difficulties: his parents were in the process of divorce, which added another layer of tension to his mental state. When his parents learned of the tragedy, they urgently traveled from Khust to Uzhhorod to be with everyone affected by this terrible loss. Overall, this tragedy underscores the importance of psychological support for young people, especially during exams and critical testing periods. Local authorities and educational institutions need to urgently review issues related to psychological help and prevention in schools in order to avoid similar shocking incidents in the future. Every young man and young woman deserve support and understanding during the most difficult moments of life, and society must be ready to help them overcome internal crises and anxieties. Unfortunately, the story of this young person serves as a bitter reminder that internal struggles can be destructive, and it is time to address issues of mental health safeguarding among youth at the national level.
