Russian troops have once again attacked Ukraine — this time, the port of Odesa was subjected to a missile strike, which resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to several civilians
On the night of May 23, the occupiers launched two ballistic missiles at the city’s port infrastructure, causing significant disruption to one of the key transportation hubs in southern Ukraine. According to preliminary information, this attack claimed the life of a port worker who had just been on duty, and eight other people were wounded of varying severity. Odesa Regional Military Administration Head Oleg Kiper confirmed in his comment that Russian forces deliberately targeted one of the city’s most important sectors. “The enemy struck the port infrastructure of Odesa with two ballistic missiles. It was a deliberate attack that caused human casualties,” he reported. According to him, the injured remain in hospitals, most of them in serious condition. Kiper added that among the wounded, four are in a state requiring urgent and highly specialized medical intervention. Two others sustained moderate injuries, and two experienced minor injuries that do not threaten their lives but certainly increase the anxiety among local residents. According to information released by the press service, nine civilians were affected during the attack. Local authorities urge residents to remain attentive and not ignore alarm signals during any air raid alerts. The Odesa port, which is one of the country’s main export hubs, has temporarily halted operations due to infrastructure damage and safety measures. This attack once again highlights the dangerous dynamics of the conflict in southern Ukraine, where Russian forces systematically strike transportation and logistics infrastructure, leading to human casualties and destruction. Local authorities are once again calling on the international community to strengthen support for Ukraine in its fight against aggression, while also emphasizing the need to enhance security and defense measures in the region. Emergency services are working at the scene, involving rescuers and medical personnel to assist those affected and to eliminate the consequences of the missile strike. The city administration promises that relevant services will continue working to ensure safety and restore the damaged infrastructure. Meanwhile, the situation in the region remains tense — Russian troops continue to threaten the lives of civilians and the stability of the city.
