Olga Stefanishyna assures: the European Union market remains open to Ukrainian goods

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice Olga Stefanishyna has once again emphasized that the European Union is open to Ukrainian products, and trade between Ukraine and the EU continues to operate normally. According to the high-ranking official, there are currently no steps being considered that would restrict or suspend the freedom of trade for Ukrainian goods in the European market. In her comments to “European Pravda” after completing her visit to Brussels, Stefanishyna stated that Ukraine is focused on substantive discussions regarding long-term trade solutions with the EU. She highlighted that constructive negotiations have begun during the visit, aimed at ensuring stable and transparent conditions for Ukrainian exports to the European Union. Interestingly, on May 22, the European Commission adopted a detailed list of transitional measures intended to regulate Ukrainian exports to EU member countries. These new regulations are set to come into effect on June 6, 2025, following the expiration of Ukraine’s autonomous trade measures, known as the “trade visa-free” regime. Thus, the European Union reaffirmed its commitment to support Ukrainian industry and continue facilitating its integration into the common European market, assuring that restrictions or suspension of free trade are not currently planned. Therefore, Ukrainian businesses can be confident in the stability and openness of Europe’s trade borders for their products. Importantly, Brussels and Kyiv continue to collaborate in this area, seeking long-term solutions that will ensure sustainable partnership and the development of Ukrainian exports to the European Union, while maintaining all opportunities for mutually beneficial trade in the future.
