Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky once again emphasized that the situation around the war with Russia remains extremely tense and, unfortunately, currently shows no signs of a de-escalation of this strategic conflict
In his latest address, he stressed that the Kremlin continues to fail to give clear signals regarding readiness to cease fire and begin a diplomatic resolution process, which creates additional challenges for Ukrainian governance and defense strategy. According to Zelensky, all efforts of the Ukrainian authorities are directed toward exerting maximum external and internal pressure on Russia, as this factor, in his opinion, could serve as a key lever to shift the situation in the desired direction. "Unfortunately, the Russians are not signaling a ceasefire, and they are not inclined to end the war at this moment. Therefore, all our efforts to mobilize international support, diplomatic pressure, sanctions, and other measures are absolutely necessary and justified," he stated. Volodymyr Zelensky also highlighted the importance of continuing work with international partners to intensify pressure on the aggressor country. In particular, he drew attention to the recent report by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, which addressed developments regarding new arms supplies from abroad. According to the president, negotiations are ongoing with several countries regarding diversification and increased military supplies, which will allow Ukraine to strengthen its defense capabilities. Zelensky also emphasized the significance of economic measures as part of the pressure on Russia. Sanctions imposed by the international community against the Russian regime are of strategic importance and contribute to cutting off financial channels of Russian aggression. "We are diligently working to apply the maximum number of sanctions and to ensure that any economic tools work in our favor," he said. Additionally, the president shared positive news regarding Ukraine’s economic development in the military sector. Highlighting the attraction of new investments in military production, Zelensky underscored that this step will significantly strengthen the country’s defense industry and enable the creation of domestically designed high-tech weapons and equipment. Another important topic raised in his address concerned the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war from Russian captivity. Zelensky announced that work in this area is ongoing daily, and efforts are focused on freeing all Ukrainian citizens who are unlawfully detained in temporarily occupied territories or in Russian prisons. "We are preparing a large-scale prisoner exchange and provide daily reports on this process. We aim to free every one of our people and ensure their return home. All names are being analyzed, every detail checked, and we are doing everything possible to make this happen as soon as possible," he emphasized. Overall, Zelensky reiterated that the Ukrainian government and all its compatriots are demonstrating maximum dedication to defending the country and restoring peace. He called on international partners and civil society to maintain unity and support Ukraine during this difficult period, because together, much has been achieved, and there is still a lot of important work ahead.
