Russian forces have once again unleashed a terrible wave of shelling in the Kharkiv region, conducting strikes on Kupiansk and its surroundings, including the settlement of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi

According to rescuers and law enforcement officers, these attacks were highly cynical and destructive — guided aerial bombs and rocket salvo systems were used, resulting in tragic consequences for local residents. On May 21, Russian occupiers carried out a series of targeted strikes against entire residential neighborhoods, aiming to cause maximum damage and incite panic among the population. Preliminary reports indicate that at least one person was killed and seven others Injured of varying severity as a result of these attacks. Humanitarian services, law enforcement, and emergency responders worked under critically tense conditions, trying to eliminate the aftermath of the destruction and provide assistance to the affected. Specifically, in the settlement of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, occupiers deployed a guided aerial bomb that hit a three-story residential building. As a result, one of the entrances was completely destroyed, and nearby multi-storey buildings and private houses sustained significant damage. According to the State Emergency Service, one person was killed and four others were injured in this attack. Photos from the scene show the extent of the destruction — holes in the walls, wrecked balconies, and broken communications. The situation was no less tragic in the city of Kupiansk itself, where shell hits caused fires in residential buildings, outbuildings, garages, and wood storages. Preliminary information indicates that at least three women aged 72, 69, and 55 suffered injuries from the fires, receiving burns and trauma. They were promptly hospitalized at the nearest medical facilities. Three units of the State Emergency Service and mobile medical brigades were involved in clearing the aftermath of the shelling. Rescuers worked under the threat of further strikes and with risks to their own safety to help the victims and stabilize the situation. Together with law enforcement officers at the scene, investigators and criminologists documented the extent of the destruction, collected evidence, and established the circumstances of the criminal aggression. This morning once again demonstrated that peaceful residents of the Kharkiv region live in constant danger, and the siege of their region continues mercilessly and cynically. The occupation army seems to intentionally seek to destroy residential neighborhoods, devastate infrastructure, and increase fear among civilians. The Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, together with rescuers and police, urges residents not to panic, to exercise caution, and to strictly follow safety instructions. According to Oleg Sinegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the situation remains tense, and the events in Kupiansk once again remind us of the price paid for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. The war continues, and each new shelling underscores the importance of support and the fight for a peaceful and safe life in the region.
