Zelensky Calls on the Global Leadership Club to Intensify Pressure on Russia: Russia is Trying to Buy Time in the War

During a phone conversation with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed in detail the latest achievements in diplomatic negotiations with U.S. leadership and emphasized the need to intensify pressure on Moscow to change its aggressive behavior. According to "European Truth," citing Zelensky’s post on social media X (formerly Twitter), the country’s leader highlighted the importance of coordinated international diplomacy aimed at achieving real and understandable results in the conflict. The politician recalled that Ukraine continues to work with international partners to eradicate tactics of delay and ignoring responsibility on the part of Russia. "We discussed the details of yesterday’s conversation with the U.S. President. The main idea is that diplomacy aimed at establishing peace should be coordinated and goal-oriented," Zelensky emphasized. Ukrainian officials are convinced that Russia is actively trying to use time to consolidate its positions in occupied territories, develop strategic positions, and strengthen economic and military infrastructure for a prolonged conflict. Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that Ukrainian diplomacy is focused not only on seizing every possible opportunity to accelerate the peace process but also on creating conditions that would force the Kremlin to reconsider its aggressive tactics. "It is very important that the pressure from the international community is systematic and unwavering, as Russia seeks to buy time to preserve and expand the occupied territories. This must be stopped, because a prolonged war threatens security not only in Ukraine but throughout Europe," Zelensky’s statement reads. The Ukrainian leader reaffirmed his readiness for any negotiation format and insisted that proposals discussed at the international level be realistic and clearly defined. He also emphasized that any attempts by Russia to put forward unrealistic or conditionally disadvantageous demands for Ukraine would only complicate the peace process and have negative consequences for further diplomacy. “There is no doubt that the ultimate success of the war depends on the ability of diplomacy to be effective. Ukraine is open to negotiations and prepared for any format if it helps end the war and restore justice,” Zelensky underscored. Therefore, the Ukrainian leader once again called on the international community to focus on maintaining pressure, as he believes this will be key to finally returning peace and stability to the region. He stresses that the time for delay has already passed, and only joint efforts will help stop the aggressor.
