According to information provided by the Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv Region, on May 20, around 12:00 PM, Russian occupiers carried out a massive artillery strike on the city, unfortunately leaving no one unaffected among the local residents. As a result of this attack, three women aged 73, 69, and 55 were injured, exhibiting symptoms of acute stress reaction and psychological tension. According to official investigative data, the city's integrity was severely tested — several residential buildings were damaged and destroyed, leaving residents without roofs over their heads. Damage is currently being recorded in several neighborhoods of the city, and residents recall past attacks with horror, as these destructions mean not only material loss but also a deterioration in the lives of ordinary people, who have long been forced to endure occupation regimes and instability. Russian troops traditionally employ artillery in strategic targeted operations, aiming to increase psychological pressure on the population and undermine regional infrastructural stability. Kupiansk, as an important logistical and administrative center in Kharkiv region, was no exception. Local residents found themselves again under fire, which manifests not only in physical injuries and destruction but also in deep psychological trauma. According to eyewitnesses, the effects of the shelling are felt throughout the city — residential buildings are destroyed, vehicles damaged, utility networks disrupted. Moreover, many residents are forced to leave their homes in search of safety. It is worth noting that this situation creates an additional humanitarian challenge for the local authorities, who are trying to respond promptly to residents' needs by providing necessary aid, psychological support, and restoring critical infrastructure. This tragedy once again reminds us of the human cost of war and the suffering it entails. Women wounded in the attack are currently receiving medical assistance and psychological counseling, though the moral and physical impacts will remain with them for a long time. Authorities call on residents to be cautious when receiving signals of alarm and to respond immediately in order to avoid further losses and tragedies. We again emphasize the necessity of fighting for peace and the integrity of our country and call on the international community to increase pressure on the aggressor nation to stop this senseless war, which destroys the lives of ordinary people and ruins our homes. While the struggle continues, Kupiansk residents, holding on to the last remains of hope, are looking forward to quick recovery and the return of peace to their homeland, so they can once again feel safety and calm in their homes.
