This tragic incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the Yunakivska community of Sumy district, where the occupiers opened fire on residential buildings of local residents. According to official information disseminated by the regional prosecutor's office, a 33-year-old man, a resident of the area, was killed as a result of this attack. According to investigation data, around 3:30 PM on May 20, Russian troops shelled the territory of the Yunakivska community, targeting private households of civilians. During the attack, the man was injured and died from his wounds. It is known that all residential buildings were damaged or destroyed, and the victim became one of the casualties of the Russian aggression, which has been ravaging Ukrainian lands for a prolonged period. The Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor's Office of Sumy region have initiated pre-trial investigation into the fact of a war crime under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This includes establishing all circumstances of the tragedy, identifying those guilty, and bringing them to justice in accordance with current legislation. Meanwhile, the situation in eastern Sumy remains tense: on the same day, Russian troops also launched a missile strike on the Shostka community. Local sources and officials confirm this, recording destruction of infrastructure and damage to residential buildings in the city. People are once again under threat of life and health due to the aggressive actions of the occupiers, who mercilessly destroy peaceful towns and villages.
