Most Americans support further military aid to Ukraine and believe that the United States should continue providing weapons and imposing sanctions against Russia

According to a recent Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey, published by "European Truth," a significant portion of the U.S. population is inclined to actively support Ukraine in its fight for independence and territorial integrity. The survey data shows that 62% of American voters believe that the Trump administration should continue providing military assistance to Ukraine and impose sanctions on the Russian Federation in response to its aggression. Importantly, these sentiments are not limited to Democrats; they are also prevalent among Republicans — with 71% and 59% of respondents from both political camps sharing this view. This indicates broad support for a strategic stance aimed at deterring Russian aggression across different political forces in the United States. Furthermore, more than two-thirds of Americans (64%) think Ukraine should receive direct security guarantees from the U.S. if it makes certain concessions to achieve peace with Russia. This is the most widely held position across all political orientations, reflecting a desire for diplomatic resolution and a willingness to support compromise solutions to expedite the end of military hostilities. At the same time, there remains some uncertainty in political circles regarding the next steps of the presidential administration. Notably, former President Donald Trump recently stated that he does not plan to impose new economic sanctions on Moscow. In conversations with journalists, he mentioned that he is ready to "step back" from participating in negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow if he does not see significant progress in resolving the conflict. This approach is driven by his desire to avoid escalation and to keep open the possibility for future diplomatic solutions, but it also raises questions about the direction and intensity of U.S. policy in this area. Thus, many Americans continue to show consistent support for Ukraine and expect the U.S. to maintain active involvement in European affairs, which is critical for either escalation or de-escalation of the conflict. At a moment when negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow are still far from success, the sentiments of the American public remain quite steady: to support Ukraine in its fight for freedom and independence by providing necessary military and diplomatic resources.
