According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, the morning of May 18th greeted the capital with an unprecedented air defense mode: from 23:59 to 08:54, there was continuous alarm signaling, totaling 8 hours and 54 minutes. This became one of the longest such periods in the history of the modern war, illustrating the seriousness of the current threatening situation for the city and its residents. Based on current information, Russian forces have once again employed the strategically important tactic of continuous attacks, attempting to weaken the city’s defensive potential and spread panic among its population. As a result of night shelling, significant damage occurred in two districts of Kyiv. In Solomianskyi District, windows of one apartment in a multi-story residential building were destroyed, indicating the intensity of the hits. Meanwhile, in Holosiivskyi District, the roof of a non-residential building was damaged, likely causing unforeseen consequences for the building’s functionality, although no injuries were reported among residents. Despite technical damages and increased danger, the capital remains entirely free of human casualties, which is another positive factor in this emergency situation. At the same time, military and city services emphasize that the situation remains under control, and all necessary measures are being taken, including evacuation, reinforcement of the air defense system, and ensuring residents’ safety. Unfortunately, the fight for the safety and lives of Kyiv residents continues not only within the city. The suburban region also suffers from enemy shelling flows. According to official reports, a tragic incident occurred in the Obukhiv district of Kyiv region: as a result of Russian shelling, a woman was killed, and three other people were wounded, including a child. This news again highlights the scale of danger faced by the Ukrainian population during active military actions and underscores the urgent need for systematic support and protection from the state and the international community.
