Russian missile attacks have claimed the lives of two more peaceful residents of Kherson Region, and a significant number—13 people—have been injured, according to recent reports over the past two days

This once again demonstrates the brutal ruthlessness and cynicism of the occupying forces. The latest information from the Kherson Regional Military Administration indicates that as of May 16-17, Russian troops carried out strikes on the region’s critical infrastructure, as well as on residential districts in settlements under temporary Ukrainian control. According to official reports, during the intense shelling, several multi-story buildings were damaged—including two residential high-rises and about ten private homes. Infrastructure objects were also hit, including one gas station that services cars of local residents and humanitarian aid, as well as cellular towers, gas pipelines, and farm structures. As a result of this missile terror, several vehicles—including a truck used for delivering humanitarian aid—and private cars of residents were destroyed or damaged. The attacks by Russian forces have also caused damage to automotive infrastructure—attackers targeted a truck with humanitarian aid, complicating the delivery of essential food, medicines, and basic necessities to the local population, which is already suffering from prolonged occupation and continuous shelling. Additionally, several private vehicles were damaged, creating further difficulties for civilian movement in the region. Overall, the past two days in Kherson Region confirmed yet again the systematic, cynical destruction by the Russian army of vital infrastructure and human lives. This in itself underscores a deliberate approach aimed at destabilizing the region and destroying the peaceful population. Authorities once again emphasize the need to enhance support from the Ukrainian forces and the international community to prevent further casualties and to maintain the safety and lives of Kherson residents.
