More than half of Ukrainians rated President Zelensky’s visit to Turkey as successful, according to recent sociological survey data

Based on the results of a national survey conducted by the "Rating" group on May 16, 2023, over half of Ukrainians — 53% — believe that President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent visit to Turkey was successful and yielded positive results for the country. This indicates growing public trust in the government leadership and an understanding of the importance of diplomatic steps in the current difficult circumstances of war. The study shows that Ukrainians, supported by Zelensky, value his ability to conduct negotiations and maintain openness to dialogue on the diplomatic front. Specifically, more than three-quarters of respondents — 74% — support the idea of introducing a 30-day ceasefire without any preconditions or demands, recognizing the need to continue seeking compromises to stop hostilities and ensure the safety of citizens. Regarding trust in the Ukrainian leader, it has stabilized at around 70%, which is a significant increase compared to the beginning of the year, when this figure ranged between 53 and 58%. This suggests a gradual restoration of public confidence and support for his actions during these challenging times. However, the survey also reveals some skepticism: only 25% of respondents believe that the negotiations taking place within the framework of diplomatic efforts in Turkey are truly bringing Ukraine closer to peace and a successful conclusion of the war. At the same time, the majority of Ukrainians consider it important to keep an open stance towards negotiations regardless of Russia's position, with 47% of respondents expressing the view that President Zelensky has the right and opportunity to participate in such talks without the necessity of the Kremlin leader’s presence. Overall, the survey results highlight growing public trust in the diplomatic efforts of Ukrainian leadership and confirm that most citizens appreciate the President's efforts toward finding a path to peace, even amid complexity and uncertainty. The survey included 1,000 Ukrainian citizens and is a representative reflection of societal attitudes today.
