The Security Service of Ukraine exposes a traitor within the ranks of the Ukrainian military: FSB agent serving the enemy under the cover of a Ukrainian Armed Forces unit

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) made a shocking discovery — a Russian intelligence agent was caught among a Ukrainian military unit. This individual exploited his official position to commit treason and harm national security. As a result of operational development activities, law enforcement officers detained a 31-year-old man who, under the instructions of his curator in Moscow, carried out a series of targeted actions aimed at destroying Ukrainian positions and disrupting the defenses of our country. According to the SBU's press service, the attacker was identified and detained in Kharkiv, where he had fled from his unit, having violated military discipline. It turned out that the man was acting as a full-fledged informant for Russian intelligence agencies, passing on coordinates of Ukrainian military units on the Kursk front and facilitating enemy strikes on their strongholds. During the investigation, it was established that the man conspired with Russian curators and repeatedly received instructions on effective methods of intelligence activity. A particular threat was posed by the fact that the traitor created remote access to his mobile phone for the FSB, enabling the occupiers to monitor his geolocation in real-time. According to investigative data, this channel allowed the Russians to coordinate strikes on Ukrainian military targets directly via a "live beacon" — a so-called "mole" — the traitor. Before the attacks, the Russian center’s commander would warn the mole about planned actions, indicating when to leave the affected area. The details reveal an especially dangerous situation for Ukrainian defenders: the detained man was likely not only an informant but also a potential "live target" for destructive strikes due to his betrayal. After several attempts to escape and avoid punishment, he unlawfully left his military unit and tried to flee to the Russian Federation through Kharkiv. His surrender was carried out by special services personnel, who identified his location and detained him. During the search, law enforcement seized a mobile phone from the detainee containing evidence of collaboration with the enemy and compromising data regarding his espionage activities. Based on this, investigators informed the traitor of suspicion of state treason — Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which entails penalties of up to life imprisonment. The man is currently in pre-trial detention, and the case is being examined within criminal proceedings. This is not the only such case; a few weeks ago, on May 14, the SBU already uncovered another traitor in the Poltava region, who provided information about military hospitals, air defense systems, and other critical military infrastructure to the enemy. These acts of treason leave a bloody mark on the country’s recent history, emphasizing the complexity and scale of Ukrainian special services’ fight against internal and external threats. Defending Ukraine’s territory and national interests has always been and remains the top priority for law enforcement agencies, which continue working to expose and neutralize any manifestations of treason and foreign interference — fighting for the country’s security and sovereignty.
