Media reports indicate that during the current negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, the Ukrainian delegation is compelled to communicate with the Russian side through a professional translator
According to information obtained from several sources, including "European Pravda," as well as "Interfax-Ukraine" and the "Suspilne" program, the Ukrainian representatives are accompanied by a team of interpreters who ensure accuracy and clarity in conveying information during complex business and political discussions. At the negotiations, Ukraine is represented by key high-ranking officials: Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, first deputy heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate, as well as other important figures of Ukrainian diplomacy and defense. On the other hand, the Russian delegation is led by the well-known political and diplomatic figure Vladimir Medinsky. The delegation includes deputy ministers of foreign affairs and defense of Russia, as well as the chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff, indicating a high-level delegation but also hinting at certain limitations in the level of representation, especially considering reports of the absence of senior officials from Russia. Sources from Ukraine report that all contact between the sides takes place through a translator, which, given the tense political situation and the importance of the subject matter of the negotiations, is completely understandable and logical. This is also demonstrated by the fact that public reports and comments emphasize the role of professional language mediators who ensure precise and confidential communication during meetings. It is worth recalling that this is the first case in over three years when direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia have commenced in Istanbul. It is known that the Russian delegation sent low-ranking officials—delegates led by Vladimir Medinsky, an assistant to President Vladimir Putin—to these meetings. These negotiations have caused significant resonance in international circles, particularly because Russia insisted on the absence of US representatives and their diplomats from the process. It is reported that Moscow demanded that Americans not be involved in the negotiations and even raised demands to exclude them from participants, apparently to avoid external interference and to maintain internal confidentiality of the negotiation process. Overall, the situation indicates a high level of tension and the complexity of diplomatic stages in the conflict between the two countries, and also demonstrates that Ukrainian and Russian representatives conduct negotiations while maintaining a formal distance and using interpreters to preserve balance and accuracy in communication. This is quite evident given the political and diplomatic sensitivity of the negotiations, which have enormous implications for the further development of the conflict and potential resolution of the situation.
