According to the latest reports, on May 16, as a result of attacks by Russian forces, four people were injured of varying severity; one of them—a 59-year-old man—was taken to the nearest hospital for necessary medical assistance. The Kharkiv regional prosecutor’s office, citing the preliminary investigation results, reported that before noon, the occupiers began shelling the town of Kupiansk. Around 1:00 p.m., the Russian army used Grad rocket launchers, causing destruction of at least ten private residential buildings in the city. The property owners suffered significant damage. During the shelling, a 59-year-old man was wounded; due to the severity of his injuries, he was promptly rushed to the hospital. Preliminary data indicates that the attack was carried out using multiple rocket launcher systems, and the affected residents were caught in the crossfire within the residential area. Less than an hour later, at 2:30 p.m., the situation worsened near the village of Kутьківка, which is part of the Kupiansk district. Here, Russian forces launched a new attack with artillery, causing explosions of explosive materials and injuring two men and a woman, who were nearby at the time of the detonation. Details regarding the severity of their injuries and their current conditions are being clarified. A particularly alarming report concerns the use of a Russian FPV drone, which approximately at 2:20 p.m. again flew over Kupiansk, causing damage to a private household. Local residents report that this was an attack with a kamikaze drone, indicating a possible increase in hostile tactics aimed at destroying civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv region. The military situation in the region remains tense, with local authorities and security services working to respond as effectively as possible to new threats, providing aid to the wounded and establishing measures to prevent further acts of enemy aggression. Official officials urge residents to be cautious, follow safety rules during alarms, and stay in contact with local services for updated information. Shellings in Kupiansk district have been ongoing for several weeks, and each new attack brings destruction, pain, and suffering to the civilian population. Ukrainian authorities and military communities emphasize the need to strengthen defense measures and seek international support to protect civilians and restore security in this hotspot of Kharkiv region.
