During the night, the occupiers shelled the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk region, causing significant destruction and damage to infrastructure and residential buildings
According to the head of the regional military administration, Serhii Lysak, Ukrainian defenders repelled another attack, destroying an enemy drone-reconnaissance unit, but the region itself suffered substantial losses due to enemy artillery and unmanned aerial vehicles. Official information reports that the Russian armed forces used "Grad" missile launch complexes and FPV (First Person View) reconnaissance drones against Nikopol and nearby settlements, enabling the enemy to carry out targeted strikes on key infrastructure facilities. Local authorities have stated that shells hit industrial enterprises, residential sectors, educational institutions, and even a sacred temple in the city. The region's leader emphasized: "Only in Nikopol, Russian forces launched about fifty shells. As a result, several buildings were damaged; a kindergarten and a school were destroyed; a church was damaged; and private homes sustained exhausting damage. Dozens of residential objects and private vehicles were affected right before the eyes of the residents." Fortunately, there were no human casualties as a result of the shelling: no injuries or fatalities have been reported so far. Lysak additionally noted that the morning in the region was marked by Ukrainian military training using air defense systems. "An enemy unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down in the airspace of the region, which helps reduce the scale of destruction and preserve housing and infrastructure," he summarized. Witnesses report that the sounds of explosions were heard as early as the previous day, and destruction and smoke were visible even from the outskirts of the city. Settlements near Nikopol continue to remain on high combat alert. Local authorities urge residents to exercise extreme caution and follow safety recommendations, as the enemy continues active actions and systematically attempts to sow fear and destruction. This again confirms the tense and difficult atmosphere of the region, where everyday Ukrainian defenders work tirelessly to protect civilians from Russian aggressors. Law enforcement agencies are currently documenting the extent of damages and identifying possible perpetrators to prevent further escalation of violence. Ukrainian defenders and volunteers are making every effort to quickly restore damaged infrastructure and bring the region back to peaceful life.
