During the next few days, the Ukrainian territory will once again be dominated by variable rainy weather, which at the end of the week and the beginning of the new one will bring unexpected whims of nature
According to the Ukrhydrometcenter, this coming weekend the country will be under the influence of cyclonic fronts, causing heavy rains in most regions, and by Monday, wet snow is expected in the Carpathian Mountains. According to the official forecast, on Saturday and Sunday, a significant part of the country will remain under a rainy curtain. Most regions will experience heavy rainfall, which, on one hand, will add wet notes to the already prolonged autumn period, and on the other hand, will contribute to rising river levels and increase the risk of local flooding. Meanwhile, in the western regions of the country, particularly in mountainous areas, precipitation will be less intense at night or may not occur at all. The temperature regime on Saturday and Sunday will fluctuate between 6-12 degrees Celsius at night, and in western oblasts, it will decrease to 2-8 degrees, creating a feeling of pre-autumn coolness. During the day, temperatures will rise to 11-17 degrees, making the weather more comfortable for walks. In the east and south of the country, warmer conditions will persist — from 18 to 23 degrees Celsius, aligning with the region's usual warm climate. As for the wind, a gradual shift from the northwest to the southwest is expected, with speeds of 5-10 meters per second. During the peak of the period, especially on May 17, local gusts of strong wind are possible on the Left Bank, and on May 18-19, in the Carpathians, the front will intensify, bringing wind gusts of 15-20 meters per second, adding even more atmospheric dynamism to the described weather scenario. The capital, Kyiv, will also be under the influence of rain on Saturday. Daytime temperatures will range between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius, with nighttime temperatures of 6-8 degrees. Northwest winds, with gusts reaching 7-12 m/s, will make the atmosphere quite cool and promote air mass movements. The situation will repeat on Sunday: it will rain again, but daytime temperatures are expected to rise to 15-17 degrees, creating a more comfortable climate for city residents. Winds will remain southwesterly at 7-12 m/s, intensifying the sense of an unpredictable but favorable weather situation for many. Thus, at first glance, the first week after a brief spring pause is set for prolonged rains, with periodic sunshine in western regions and significant temperature fluctuations. Simultaneously, in the mountainous Carpathians, wet snow may occur at the end of the week, which could be a surprise for weather-sensitive people and tourists. Therefore, when planning the weekend, it is advisable to consider the weather's unpredictability and prepare for various scenarios — from heavy rains and cool nights to nearly spring-like warm days in the south and east of the country.
