Russian drones have attacked Ukraine again: Poltava and Kyiv regions were struck, resulting in extensive destruction, fires, and human suffering

On the night of May 15, Ukrainian regions once again became targets of aggressive attacks by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to official sources, Poltava and Kyiv regions were especially affected, where after the enemy strikes, burned houses, destroyed vehicles, and damaged forests remain. Emergency services are continuing to work at the sites, eliminating the consequences of the attack and rescuing people. According to Volodymyr Kogut, head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, the Russian drones affected residential areas and the environment. In Luben district, a large fire broke out in a private house after debris from a drone fell. The fire engulfed the residential building and a car parked nearby. Firefighters responded quickly and managed to contain the fire before it spread to adjacent structures. At the same time, the hostile group damaged several other private structures in neighboring households, authorities announced. Another epicenter of a large fire was found in the Vyshhorod district of Kyiv region. Debris from downed drones caused a fire in an unfinished private house and in a nearby forested area. These fires, caused by the Russian attack, were quickly extinguished. No human casualties have been reported so far, but the fire caused significant damage to natural resources. Another significant attack occurred in the Fastiv district of Kyiv region. As a result of the strike, two private residential houses were damaged. Preliminary reports indicate that several homes caught fire and experienced partial destruction, but rescue services are already assessing the extent of the damage and evacuating those affected. According to the latest information, local services responded quickly to the calls and took all necessary measures to eliminate the consequences of the attack. According to representatives of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration and the Poltava Regional State Administration, the situation remains tense, as the enemy actively employs new tactics and technologies to complicate the work of Ukrainian defense forces. Moreover, such attacks are not the first in recent times. Overall, Ukrainian military sources report that on the night of May 15, Russians launched 110 attack drones of the Shahed type and various imitation models. About 91 drones were shot down by Ukrainian air defense systems or destroyed during the approach. This highlights Ukraine’s high level of air defense but also demonstrates the ongoing challenge posed by Russian attacks to civilians and infrastructure. Experts emphasize that Russian drones are not only tools for conducting strikes but also elements of psychological warfare aimed at frightening Ukrainians and demoralizing the country’s defense potential. Ukrainian authorities urge residents to stay vigilant, follow safety recommendations, and report suspicious objects to minimize the effects of enemy attacks. In general, the situation remains tense, and Ukrainian services are working in a reinforced mode to quickly respond to any new provocations by Russian occupiers. People are encouraged not to lose vigilance and to support each other during these difficult times, as each day brings new challenges and tests.
