According to the latest reports, during the night from May 14 to 15, Russian military carried out a joint operation against Ukraine involving a total of 110 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types and modifications, of which over 80 percent did not reach their intended targets. This once again confirms that Ukrainian defenders have substantial experience in air defense and systematically destroy enemy targets. According to official information from the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram, as of 8 a.m. on May 15, 62 Shahed attack drones were shot down, along with several drone imitations used by Russian troops to disorient the Ukrainian air defense system. The interceptions occurred simultaneously in different regions: in the east, north, west, and central parts of the country. Overall, as a result of the military operation—which Ukrainian defenders refer to as a "silent war"—more than half of the attacking drone fleet of the aggressor was destroyed. Several Ukrainian regions were affected during the nocturnal attack—damages were reported in Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Kyiv, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions; however, Ukrainian units caught the enemy off guard: anti-aircraft systems, aviation, electronic warfare tools, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces operated effectively and cohesively. Once again, Russian troops attempt to sow panic among Ukrainian citizens and deal a blow to critical infrastructure using kamikaze drones and imitations. However, Ukrainian defense forces demonstrate a high level of professionalism and mobility, actively destroying most of the enemy’s drones before they reach their targets. This once again confirms that Ukraine’s air defense is evolving and capable of countering modern challenges posed by the Russian foe, deterring their attacks and reducing their effectiveness. The current situation remains difficult, but the Ukrainian army and defense structures show a high level of readiness and coordinated effort in fighting drone attacks. At the same time, Ukrainians call on everyone to remain vigilant and take care of safety during such air alarm alerts, which have become a routine element of modern warfare.
